Yugoslav People s ArmyThe Yugoslav People's Army (Jugoslavenska/Jugoslovenska Narodna Armija, JNA, Slovene Jugoslovanska ljudska armada, JLA) was the army of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia prior to its dissolution. YPA roots are in WWII Yugoslav partisan force lead by Josip Broz Tito, which in 1942 become People's Liberation Army and Partisan detachments of Yugoslavia (Narodnoslobodilačka vojska i partizanski odredi Jugoslavije – NOV i POJ). In March of 1945 NOVJ was renamed Yugoslav army (Jugoslovenska armija) and finally on 22nd December 1951 received adjective People's (narodna) to emphasis popular, socialistic and revolutionary character of the army.
