Space bandSpace are an indie rock band from Liverpool, UK who were very popular in the 1990s. Tommy Scott (vocals/bass), Jamie Murphy (guitar), and Andy Parle (drums) formed Space in 1993 and aimed for a Who-influenced sound. They secured a record deal with Gut Records who released Neighbourhood in 1996. The subsequent release of their next single, Female of the Species, provided much popular acclaim. The band increased in size with the addition of keyboardist/vocalist Franny Griffith and bassist Dave "Yorkie" Palmer (who joined in 1997). Their debut album Spiders enjoyed moderate success. Female of the Species also gained moderate airplay on college radio and MTV in America as well. A tour of the U.S. followed in mid-1997 which was less successful than many had hoped. Murphy and Parle left the band. Leon Caffrey took over on drums for the Tin Planet sessions and the album was issued in spring 1998, hitting number three in the album charts. After a four-year break, Space returned in 2004 to release Suburban Rock 'N' Roll, which hit # 14 in the charts. DiscographyExternal link
