This region is part of Southern Europe, compared to Northern France being part of Western Europe. Those French regions located on the Mediterranean Sea are in this whole region. They include:

• Aquitaine
• Midi-Pyrénées
• Languedoc-Roussillon
• Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur
