Sououd-e-Melli

"Sououd-e-Melli" is the national anthem of Afghanistan. It was adopted in 1978, banned by the Taliban in 1992 as part of a general ban on music, and reinstated after the Taliban fell in 2002.

گرم شاه لا گرم شاه

تا اى مقدس لامارا

اى دا ازادي لامارا

اى دا نكمارغي لامارا


موژ پاتوفانونوكى

پري كرا دا بار لارا

هم دا تورو شپو لارا

هم دا راناي لارا

سرا دا سرباز لارا

پاكا دا رور لارا

Garam shah la garam shah Ta e muquadas lemara E da-azadi lemara E da-nekmarghÌ lemara

Muzh pa tufanunoke Pri kra da-bari laara Ham da-toro shpo laara Ham da-ranaei laara Sra da-sarbazi laara Paka da-rori laara

English translation

Become hot, become more hot, You, the holy sun. O sun of freedom, O sun of good fortune.

We through the storm Have come to the end of the road. We have also traversed the paths of darkness, Also the way of light.

The red road of victory, The pure path of brotherhood.
