Slow firesSlow fires is a term from library and information science used to describe the self-destruction of acid paper. One can now buy low acid editions of many books for use in libraries. Another possibility is to put books through a process that removes the acidity and gives them a much longer life. But a process currently in vogue is mass scanning of the books, as done in the Million Book Project. See also: mass deacidification Categories: Library and information science |
