Sittard

Sittard is a city with 48,400 inhabitants. It is the home of the professional football club Fortuna Sittard. Sittard was granted city rights in 1243. Sittard was a small stronghold , until a great part of it was destroyed in the 'rampjaar' 1672.

Geleen

Geleen is a large town with 33,960 inhabitants. The multinational chemical company DSM, formerly Dutch State Mines, is based in Geleen.
