Satoshi TajiriSatoshi Tajiri (田尻 智) (Born August 28 1965) is the creator of Pokémon. When he was young, he loved to collect insects and trade them with his friends. Sometimes, they would enjoy watching the insects they had captured fight against one another. Satoshi also loved to play video games and liked watching Japanese monster movies. When he grew up, Mr. Tajiri combined his three childhood passions and started creating the Pocket Monsters (Pokémon for short) video games. He founded Game Freak and worked with Creatures Inc. and Nintendo to create the games. The Pokémon anime character Ash Ketchum in Japan is named "Satoshi", after him, in the original Japanese, and the rival, Gary Oak, is called "Shigeru" in Japan, after his friend Shigeru Miyamoto.
