January 7 — Eastern and Russian Orthodox Christmas (according to Julian Calendar)
February 23 — Day of Motherland's Defensor (formerly Day of Soviet Army and Navy), practically this is a male equivalent of the International Women's Day in Russia
March 8 — International Women's Day. It is declared by the UN, but hardly any other country celebrate it. It's a major holiday in Russia, however, and a great occasion to present gifts to women.
May 1 + May 2 — holiday of Spring and Labor (formerly Day of Workers' International Solidarity)
May 9 — Victory Day (meaning victory over Nazi Germany in 1945)
