Oslo War

The Oslo War is a term used by some Israelis, mainly Right wing supporters, to refer to the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians that begun in the fall of 2000 and continues to this day. It is known by Arabs as the Al-Aqsa Intifada because it broke out when Sharon and many accompanying Israeli police entered the Temple Mount which Arabs saw as an assault on the Al-Aqsa Mosque. It broke out on September 28, 2000, when Ariel Sharon ascended The Temple Mount which Arabs used as an excuse for the violence that some people claim they planned to carry out after the failure of the Camp David summit in July, 2000. Some Palestinian officials admitted this claim (see Al-Aqsa Intifada#Prior causes). The war continues to this day.

The name suggests that the Intifada is a direct consequence of the Oslo Accords and that the accords themself were a trojan horse used by Yasser Arafat and the Palestinian to insert thousands of armed terrorists into Israel. According to that approach, the Palestinian were never interested in true peace, and the Oslo Accords, as well as the current intifada, is another mean in their goal of destroying Israel.

The Israeli "architects" of Oslo are often accused in blindness and naiveness, letting the Palestinian to exploite their good will and betray them. Hardcore architects like Yossi Beilin are accused also in selling Israel's interest for foreign money, disregarding Jewish lives that may be lost because of their acts. There is a common slogan among Right wing activists that calls to investigate the Oslo architects and put them on trial (in Hebrew it reads פושעי אוסלו לדין). Before the al-Aqsa intifada those views were held by minority but gained popularity after 4 years of Palestinian violence and the controversial Geneva Accords.
