Norodom Chakrapong

HRH General Sdech Krum Khun (prince) Norodom Chakrapong (Naradhama Chakrabangsa) is a son of HM Norodom Sihanouk, the king of Cambodia. Born October 21, 1945 in the Khemerin palace, he was educated in France and at the staff education instute of the Yugoslavian airforce. During the 1960s, he served as a pilot in the Cambodian airforce. From 1973 to 1975, he lived in exile in China, just like his father. After that, he went back to France. He stayed there until 1991. Since the mid-1990s, he has been vice prime minister of Cambodia. He was responsible for, among other things, the Kampuchea Airways state airline company. In 1993 he was exiled again. First he went to Maleisia, and in 1998 to France. When he returned, he decided to found his own airline company: Royal Phnom Penh Airways. In 2003, Norodom Chakrapong was the owner of this company. He is a member of the king's board of advice, which makes him an influential person in Cambodian business and politics.
