New Iraqi Army

The New Iraqi Army is the reconstituted Iraqi military following the 2003 invasion by the U.S. coalition. New units include:

• infantry brigades;
• the national guard (previously the Iraqi Civil Defense Corps);
• rapid intervention forces; and
• Iraqi special forces
