KipIn the United States, a kip is a unit of mass that equals 1,000 avoirdupois pounds. It is mainly used by architects and structural engineers. The name comes from combining the words "kilo" and "pound", thus 1,000 pounds. The kip was also the name of obsolete units of measure in historic England and Malaysia. See alsoExternal Links:
Kip is the currency of Laos. By ISO 4217 it is abbreviated as LAK. One Kip is divided in 100 At. In 1979 a currency reform was made, replacing 100 old kip by one new kip. The exchange rate as of June 2004 was 1 EUR = 9558 LAK.
