Kajang

Kajang (population 189,400 (2001)) is a town in the state of Selangor, Malaysia (2.98 degrees N, 101.77 degrees E). It is located about 20 km to the south of Kuala Lumpur.

Kajang is famous for its sate (alternate spelling satay), a form of skewered barbequed meat. One university located near Kajang is Universiti Tenaga Nasional (Uniten).

History

  • 1709 - settlements in Kajang was first established.
  • 1874 - town started after Selangor civil war.
