Infantilism

Infantilism is the quality of imposing, pretending, or becoming an infant.

In the normal development of children, it is common for very young children to regress temporarily under stress and feign infantilism.

In adult psychology and sexuality, infantilism is a type of sexual roleplaying that may be part of BDSM in which a person takes the role of a baby. It is a subset of ageplay and often regarded as edgeplay.

Infantilists usually combine the submission of the baby role with the fetishes of diapers, though not all infantilists actually practice scat fetishism or watersports. Some enjoy wearing diapers without taking the role of an infant, and without dominant/submissive roleplay. Some infantilism is purely regressive, without any sexual contact, while others include sexuality. The top or dominant plays the role of a parent, nursemaid or babysitter.

Infantilism is also connected to terms such as diaper lover, teen baby and adult baby, which are all variations on the theme of infantilism.

Infantilism should not be confused with infantophilia, the sexual attraction to small children, or paedophilia, a sexual attraction to children in general.
