Indian Institute of Technology Madras

The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras) is one of the premier colleges of engineering in the world. It is situated in the southern city of Chennai (formerly Madras), India. Founded in the year 1959, and it is third among the seven higher technological educational institutions established by the Government of India to provide high quality education in the fields of engineering and technology.

IIT Madras offers UG, PG and research degrees in 15 disciplines in Engineering, Sciences, Humanities and Management. Around 400 faculty of international repute belonging to various science and engineering disciplines are engaged in teaching, research and consultancy activities here.

IIT Madras, is one of the largest institutes in the world and the second largest in India. Spread over a vast area of 600 acres (2.4 km²), of which almost 75% is greenery, it stands out as one the most beautiful campuses in India. The campus extends into the neighbouring Guindy National Park, and has an abundant population of deer, blackbuck and various other forms of wildlife.
