Indian American

An Indian American is a person who was either born in India and immigrated to the United States, or were born in the United States and have Indian ancestry.

Indian Americans account for about 1% of the total population of the United States, numbering nearly 2 million residents who either are legal citizens or permanent residents. Additionally there are about 500,000 to 1 million Indians who work in the country and have been granted work permits and visas. Many specialize in computer software and hardware industry, medical and health careers, engineers and specialists.

Indian Americans are sometimes considered the wealthiest group of immigrants in the United States.
