Holidays in the People s Republic of ChinaHolidays in the People's Republic of China: The three main holidays in the People's Republic of China are the Spring Festival, May Day, and National Day on October 1. The government offers people a week-long holiday on all of these three holidays, but in reality, most people take at least a fortnight off on Spring Festival. The week-long holidays on May Day and National Day began in 2000, as a measure to increase and encourage holiday spending.
