Hexose

A hexose is a monosaccharide with six carbon atoms.

The three basic hexoses are glucose, galactose (two aldohexoses) and fructose (a ketohexose).

Other aldohexoses:

• allose
• altrose
• mannose
• gulose
• idose
• talose

Other ketohexoses:

• psicose
• sorbose
• tagatose
