Devil horns

The devil horns gesture, also known as the "goat horns", mano cornuto (horned hand), or just "the horns", is made by making a fist and extending the index finger and the pinky. This is not to be confused with the I love you sign made by extending the thumb as well. In heavy metal music, the sign was popularized by Ronnie James Dio, whose Italian mother used it as a sign to ward off the evil eye. Metal fans' use of this sign could be interpreted as "you are evil" to the band, which, in the context of metal, is a compliment.

This sign is also used by Texas Longhorns fans.
