Conlang

The word conlang has several meanings:

  • It is the short, colloquial form of constructed language.
  • Usually in uppercase, it refers to CONLANG-L, a well-known e-mail list for the discussion of constructed languages.
  • In CONLANG-L and other contexts, it sometimes functions as a verb ("I spent the holiday conlanging"), usually in the -ing form, either as present participle or verbal noun ("Conlanging is a hobby and an art").
