Confederated sejm

Confederated sejm (polish sejm skonfederowany) was a special form of sejm in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the XVIII century.

After the 1764 liberum veto losts its destructive power as the institution of confederated sejm became more common - such Sejms ignored the unanimity principle and thus the liberum veto rule as well. The confederated sejm institution evolved in turn from the earlier tradition of confederatio (a military organisation of the szlachta willing to achieve a common political aim).
