Boundary Street

Boundary Street is a three-lane one-way street in Kowloon, Hong Kong,

It marked the boundary between Kowloon peninsula on the south, perpetually ceded by Ch'ing China to Great Britain in 1860, and the mainland on the north. The north side of the street, later known as New Territories, was leased to Great Britain in 1898 for a nominal 99 years.

The area between Boundary Street and the mountain ranges were known as New Kowloon, and is regarded as part of Kowloon nowadays. The present-day concept of New Territories no longer include New Kowloon.

Kowloon (ceded in 1860), together with New Territories (leased in 1898 for nominally 99 years) and Hong Kong Island (perpetually ceded in 1841), formed the crown colony of Hong Kong. In 1997, both the ceded and leased territories, were handovered to China (Peking) in 1997.
