Anna VissiAnna Vissi (born December 20, 1957) is a successful singer, considered to be the Greek version of Madonna.
Early lifeAnna's parents saw her passion for the performing arts—drama, singing, songwriting, and dancing—at the early age of six. She attended the Cyprus Conservatory, and her parents took her to local pageants when she was older. She won a first prize for Best Voice when she was 12 years old at a local contest in Cyprus. A few years later, the family relocated to Greece with hopes of the Greek community to cater to Vissi's aspirations. CareerAnna's career started when she arrived in Athens, Greece. She quickly signed on to the Minos record label and began working with composers Xaris Alexiou and Nikos Karvelas (whom she later married). In 1980, she became famous for winning the Eurovision contest. She has released a total of 27 albums—4 of them CD singles. In 2004 Anna performed at the closing ceromony of the Olympics in Athens.
