The 45th parallel of north latitude is the east-west line that marks the halfway point between the equator and the North Pole

In the United States, it marks the northern border of the state of Vermont, which lies approximately 1km north of the parallel due to a cartographic error. As the southern boundary between Quebec and the United States between the St Lawrence and the Appalachians, this line has often been called the "Canada line".
